Last Responder exists because there was a gap — no dedicated infrastructure for the emotional, professional, and human realities of working with death every day. The profession demands accuracy, compassion, resilience, and restraint, yet those who do this work are frequently overlooked in conversations about responder wellness, recognition, and support.

We understand the cumulative trauma, the responsibility of speaking for the deceased, the weight of death notifications, and the quiet impact this work has on families, careers, and lives. We also understand the pride, integrity, and purpose that keep these professionals showing up — even on the hardest days.

Last Responder operates as a program of Responders Inc, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to strengthening and supporting responder and public service professions nationwide.
